WoW so what if rl gender and character gender aren't the same?

So why is it ok that you play a species other then your own but but people get upset if they learn your gender is not the same? Species trumps gender, yet if you are a male human playing as a female goblin, somehow its the female that makes you living a lie, not the goblin, or that its a fanasy setting anways.
