Guys: how do I ask him out??? ?

Sooo I really really like this guy but I don't know how to tell him and it has to be through text because I am gone for the hole summer and I also wanna know how to ask him out so do you like girls to be blunt or drop hints??? And should I tell him I like him first or ask If he like me first?( I am 13 he is 14) plz help!!!! And don't say I am too young
